3D printing is a word that I have heard sporadically over the past decade. I've seen it's application demonstrated but never has it been shown to be something worthwhile. More like a fun toy that designers and engineers could play with; nothing that would be instrumental in my life.
The technology has been refined and it is no longer going to be a cool effect I see on Project Runway and on engineering demonstrations, but used to facilitate design and production. In this global world, more is more is more is the theme we follow. That mindset and the production methods following have proven problematic as we waste so many materials and resources during production.
Just like with seamless technology this will be able to implemented to reduce waste and speed up production time. As listed in the article, the possibilities are endless and I am interested in seeing them come to fruition. Jewelry designs customized to my liking. Not having to worry about stocking inventory, even new applications to fashion. It's unbelievable how far we have come. This could be as revolutionary as the internet.
Technology becomes ever ingrained in the way we live our lives. We are learning to remove the limitations that come to us. I'll be one of the first people in line to buy Ready-to-Wear 3D printed clothing item, as long as it's comfortable. Let the intersection of technology and fashion continue on!
